What Are Utility Model Patents?
Under the Patent Law of the People's Republic of China, a utility model protects a new technical solution concerning the shape, structure, or combination of components of a product that is fit for practical use. Unlike invention patents, which cover new technical solutions of products or methods and require substantive examination, utility models are subject to preliminary examination and are typically granted for incremental improvements to existing product architectures.
They are best understood as a formal record of specific, implementable engineering adjustments rather than as evidence of fundamental breakthroughs.
Our Position
CORESUN currently holds more than 40 utility model patents related to commercial refrigeration equipment. These patents cover a range of practical adjustments—cabinet insulation structures, door sealing mechanisms, modular chassis configurations, condenser ventilation layouts, and interior shelf support systems, among others.
We do not treat this number as a measure of innovation capacity. Rather, it is a byproduct of our routine engineering process: when a design modification improves thermal retention, reduces assembly complexity, or addresses a specific operational issue observed in the field, we document it and, where appropriate, seek formal protection. The patents serve as a technical archive that helps us maintain consistency across product lines and protect the practical configurations we have developed.
For buyers and partners, the existence of these patents indicates that our product structures are not arbitrary; they are the result of documented, iterative adjustments to specific functional requirements in commercial refrigeration.
