What Are Appearance Patents?

Under the Patent Law of the People's Republic of China, an appearance patent (design patent) protects a new design concerning the shape, pattern, or the combination of colors of a product, provided that the design is aesthetically pleasing and suitable for industrial application. Unlike utility model or invention patents, which protect technical solutions and functional improvements, appearance patents protect the visual and ergonomic characteristics that define how a product looks and occupies space.

Our Position

We have obtained 10 appearance patents covering the external design of our commercial refrigerators and freezers. These patents document specific cabinet proportions, door handle placements, hinge arrangements, ventilation grille patterns, and surface finishing treatments that we have developed in response to the spatial and operational constraints of commercial kitchens, hotels, and retail environments.

We do not present these patents as evidence of revolutionary design. Rather, they reflect our attention to practical aesthetics: ensuring that equipment dimensions align with standard kitchen layouts, that door swings accommodate tight aisle clearances, and that exterior surfaces withstand daily cleaning regimes while maintaining a consistent, professional appearance. The patents serve as a formal record of these configurations and help us maintain design continuity across product lines.
